Making the decision to see a therapist is one of the most important decisions you will make and a step towards greater self-care. The first appointment involves a diagnostic assessment that lasts approximately 60 minutes. The purpose of the diagnostic assessment is to gather the history, discuss the presenting problem and diagnosis, and discuss a plan for treatment goals to be addressed in the following session. We ask that you please print and complete all new client paperwork prior to the first session and provide to the therapist at the beginning of the session.
*A free 15-minute phone consultation is provided to potential clients to help determine individual needs and appropriate care.
Yes, we offer a free 15 minute phone consultation for any person who is not referred by a licensed provider (ex. self-referral or referral by a friend). Based on the this consultation we will recommend moving forward with our services or refer you to someone else.
If you are a self-referral or referred by anyone other than a licensed provider select the Initial Phone Consultation (see previous question). If you are being referred by another provider select Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation for your first appointment.
We accept BCBS, Medicare, cash via electronic transmission and credit card payments for service. We do not accept personal checks. As previously stated most insurance plans provide behavioral health coverage. Check with your insurance plan for details prior to your appointment. Please note it is the client’s responsibility to stay abreast to any changes with your insurance plan and that payment in full is expected before the start of each session. If you are using out-of-network benefits and need a superbill for insurance reimbursement please let us know.
Most insurance plans have behavioral health coverage. It is important that you contact your insurance provider prior to session to familiarize yourself with any co-pays, coinsurance, deductibles and/or out-of-pocket costs that must be met. You may be entitled to reimbursement by your insurance company for these costs, however it is your responsibility to follow up with your insurance provider. Full payment is required before services are rendered.
There are times when the therapist is mandated to report concerns discussed in session. Please see confidentiality section under disclosures for more information.
The general standard of practice for a person experiencing suicidal thoughts with an intent and plan to die is to call 9-1-1 or go directly to the nearest emergency room for help immediately. There are certain times when your therapist can assist by helping you through a crisis. This information will be discussed with you during your first session by your therapist.
We understand things happen that can delay your arrival or cause you to have to cancel an appointment. In order to respect other clients who are scheduled to be seen and the therapist’s schedule we ask that you provide a 24-hour notice for all cancellations.
If you are more than 15 minutes late you will still be charged the full amount for the scheduled session although your session time will be shortened. You may also be considered a no show and have to reschedule.
Since therapy is a partnership which requires commitment by both client and therapist it is important to be committed to the process. No shows of 3 times will be subject to a reevaluation of therapy.
All of the above are subject to the full session payment in which you will be billed for.
